So if I'm unable to find work in the fall I will be looking into the Life Long Learner's program which allows you to withdraw up to $10,000 from RRSP for education purposes. I only have about $5000 to pull out but that would significantly reduce my financial burden.
Similar to the First Time Home Buyer's plan, LLL needs to be repaid within 15 years or else it will be taxed. So basically, you're loaning money to yourself interest free. I mean that... you don't pay any interest but you also are NO LONGER earning interest. OUCH!
I should be able to make it through the fall semester so I have a bit of time to figure out what I'm going to do. I really don't like the idea of robbing my retirement fund but I like the idea of maxing out my credit cards and then starving even less. So I'm glad the option is available to me. As I do more research I will come up with a list of pros and cons and keep you informed of what I find.
